3-Hour Snowmobile Safari to Search Northern Lights in Levi

About This Experience
Wild Nordic’s evening safari is a straightforward proposition: three hours on a snowmobile in the dark forests around Levi, a break with a snack and hot drinks by an open fire, and a guide who tells the stories behind the Northern Lights while everyone watches the sky. You meet at the car park outside the Levi Tourist Information centre 30 minutes before the start, collect a thermal overall, boots and gloves, and set off from there.
It is an experience-first tour, and the operator says so plainly: snowmobiling after dark is “an experience in itself even if the auroras do not show up”. The route can change with the weather and snow, but the evening is about the ride, the fire and the sky above it, not about chasing clear weather far from Levi. Reviewers back up both outcomes. One February guest saw a lot of Northern Lights; a January guest saw none and still called the hot berry juice and sausages at a kota a great break in the ride. Wild Nordic’s terms say it does not guarantee aurora activity and gives no refund if none appears.
The rules are the clearest of any snowmobile listing we review. Drivers must be at least 18 with a valid B license, carried in the original: copies, photos and digital licenses are not accepted, and a forgotten license means no driving and no refund. The driver is liable for damage to the snowmobile at a flat €900 per accident, which a €20 waiver per driver reduces to €200. Zero tolerance applies to alcohol and drugs. The listing also says refunds will not be issued for late arrivals or no shows.
Families have a defined place. Children aged 4 to 14 at the child price sit in the sledge pulled by the guide’s snowmobile, children over 140 cm can ride as a passenger at the adult price, and those 7 and under need an adult in the sledge with them. The operator does not recommend the safari for under-4s, and it is not suitable for pregnant travelers or anyone with spinal injuries or poor cardiovascular health.
The season runs 1 December 2026 to 31 March 2027, from $193 per person (checked October 2026), rated 4.9 from 36 Viator reviews. If you want hotel pickup, which this tour does not include, compare Arctic Circle Snowmobile Park’s safari (our review) or Easy Travel’s campfire version (our review).

Had an amazing evening on our tour— sadly no northern lights, but Ivan and Marie made the night amazing nonetheless. The hot berry juice and sausages at the “kota” was a great break in the snowmobiling adventure. Ivan and Marie were great at giving some information on Finland and Lapland the whole night.

Frequently Asked Questions
What driver's license do I need for Wild Nordic's snowmobile safari?
Drivers must be at least 18 and hold a valid B (car) license, and must bring the physical card on the tour. Wild Nordic does not accept copies, photographs or digital licenses. Without the original you cannot drive and no refund is offered, though you may still ride as a passenger.
How much is the damage excess on this snowmobile safari?
The driver is liable for damage to the snowmobile at a flat rate of €900 per accident, according to Wild Nordic’s listing and its own terms. An extra waiver of €20 per driver, bought for the safari, reduces that to €200 per driver per accident case.
Can children join the 3-hour snowmobile safari?
Yes. Children aged 4 to 14 paying the child price get a seat in the sledge pulled by the guide’s snowmobile, and children over 140 cm may ride as a passenger at the adult price. Children 7 and under should have an adult with them in the sledge. The operator does not recommend the safari for children under 4.
Where does the safari start, and is there hotel pickup?
There is no hotel pickup. You meet at the car park outside the Levi Tourist Information centre, Myllyjoentie 2, Sirkka, 30 minutes before the start, and Wild Nordic picks the group up there. Arrive on time: the listing says refunds will not be issued for late arrivals or no shows.
Will I see the Northern Lights?
Maybe. The tour heads to open spots around Levi, but the aurora needs dark, clear skies. Wild Nordic’s terms say it does not guarantee aurora activity and there is no refund if none appears. The listing says the night ride is an experience in itself even when the auroras do not show.
