Levi Night Star Walk on Snowshoes (All Included)

About This Experience
Wandering Owl’s Night Star Walk is an experience-first evening for adults who would rather move than wait. The walk on snowshoes is the activity, the night sky is the backdrop, and the Northern Lights are a possible extra: the operator states plainly that there is no guarantee of seeing them. Groups are capped at eight guests, and the listing does not accept anyone under 18.
You meet the guide in Levi; there is no hotel pickup. From there you drive to a wilderness area chosen on the day for the weather and sky conditions. On arrival the guide hands out thermal suits and boots (send your sizes in the booking notes), snowshoes, hiking poles and a head torch. The route follows easy, natural terrain through forest and open ground, at a pace that leaves time to stop, look up and ask questions. The guide points out the constellations and talks about the Arctic environment; reviewers single out a guide who also shared knowledge of plants, wildlife and Sámi culture. If the aurora appears, the group stops to watch and photograph it before walking on.
Midway there is a break by the fire. The listing includes a hot Scandinavian meal with coffee or tea and biscuits, and the operator asks you to report food allergies in advance; one reviewer with dietary restrictions said special food was arranged. Professional photos are part of the price, and a tripod is available on request if you want to shoot your own.
The cold is the main thing to prepare for. Temperatures can fall to −30 °C (−22 °F) or below, and one reviewer said even the fire could not keep them warm on such a night. The suit helps, but you still need a warm base layer, woollen socks, a hat, mittens and a scarf. The operator also suggests renting thermal clothing for your whole stay in Levi. Toilet options are limited, and the walk is rated easy to moderate, so it is not for people with low fitness, mobility or visual impairments. If there is little or no snow, it becomes a regular hike.
The drawbacks are the price, $179 per person (checked October 2026), and the length of the night: the listing gives about 4 hours, and one reviewer was back at the hotel around 2:30 am. The rating of 4.8 rests on 26 reviews, a small sample. The operator says it has over 12 years of experience running tours in the Arctic. For a shorter, cheaper snowshoe evening that also takes children from 7, see our review of Polar Star Travel’s walk.

Our guide Erwin took care of us and brought snowsuits because it was super cold. The night snowshoe hike took us into a fairytale-like world. Erwin was super nice and really generous in sharing his amazing knowledge about the nature around us and the Sami culture. That made this magical experience even better, and we even got to see the northern lights and had a nice, warm, hearty meal during a break by the fire. It was an absolutely perfect and unforgettable experience. Our guide really went the extra mile, and we can't wait to see the photos. The hike was super accessible for everyone because they stopped a bunch of times to explain things, which was perfect. Thanks!
